The Shepherds Farm

“I had my own sun and moon and stars, and a little world all to myself.”

Henry David Thoreau wrote these words from his cabin at Walden Pond. In the woods of Concord, Massachusetts, he found his own little world of beauty, stillness and simple pleasures.

Fortunately, you don't have to travel to Massachusetts to find what he found. And you certainly don't have to live in a cabin.

Because here, in the rolling hills of Heuvelland, The Shepherds Farm brings simple pleasures and tangible comforts together in one extraordinary place.

A little world of your own.

Here, among the rolling hills of Heuvelland, time sometimes seems to stand still. The Kemmelberg rises quietly over the landscape. France lingers on the horizon. Birdsong fills the air, even when it rains. History, nature and a slower pace of life come together in a landscape of exceptional beauty.

And in the middle of it all lies our Farm.

Once a refuge for the shepherd and the sheep that grazed the Flemish fields, today The Shepherds Farm is a private estate, grown from a collection of old farm buildings, houses, gardens and places to gather. Each has its own character, yet together they form one whole.

The Western Farmhouse is warm and intimate. The Provence Lodge brings a softer, southern atmosphere. The Tuscan Barn is the heart of life at the Farm — a place for cooking, eating and lingering around the table. Outside, the Walled Garden, terraces, swimming pool and surrounding grounds invite you to spend as much time outdoors as in.

The different influences were never meant to match perfectly. The Flemish countryside, Provence, Tuscany and Scandinavia have each found their place here over the years. Together, they have become unmistakably The Shepherds Farm.

A place for slow mornings and long evenings. For fires in winter and doors left open in summer. For children disappearing into the garden, bottles being opened around the table and plans changing along the way.

A little world of your own.

To cherish and share with the people you love.

And when you stay, that entire world is yours.
